Having Pain at the Heel of Your Foot?

When you get up in the morning and put your foot on the floor to walk, are you getting a sharp, stabbing pain in your heel. As you walk, the pain may decrease but it returns after long periods of standing or when you stand up after sitting.

If so, you may be suffering from a condition called plantar fasciitis. It is the inflammation of a thick bank of tissue that runs across the bottom of each foot that connects your heel bone to the toes. It’s a common cause of heel pain, often resulting from overuse, improper footwear, or other factors that put stress on the plantar fascia.

When you have pain in the heel of your foot, the most common reason is the inflammation of the plantar fascia. The plantar fascia is a ligament that runs underneath the soles of the feet. It connects the heel bones to the front of the feet and also supports the arch. The fascia normally serves as a shock absorber, but repeated stress to the heel can lead to small tears in the tissue. This tissue damage causes inflammation in the fascia known as plantar fasciitis. There are a few different causes of plantar fasciitis. The condition occurs when the plantar fascia is strained over time beyond its normal extension, causing the soft tissue fibers of the fascia to tear or stretch at points along its length; this leads to inflammation and pain. Wearing high heels may also place stress on the fascia. If you are doing a job that requires a lot of standing or walking, that increases the chances of developing the condition. If you overuse this ligament by doing physical activities and sports that involves a lot of jumping, the ligament can become inflamed. It is common among athletes who run and jump a lot to suffer from this ailment. The inflammation may be aggravated by shoes that lack appropriate support, especially in the arch area, and by the chronic irritation that sometimes accompanies an athletic lifestyle. This type of pain may also result from your foot anatomy. For example, if your foot arches are particularly high or low, this can lead to plantar fasciitis. People with flat feet may also be more likely to develop plantar fasciitis. Flat feet can cause an uneven distribution of weight when the person walks, which puts added stress and pressure on the fascia. Resting provides only temporary relief. When you resume walking, particularly after a night’s sleep, you may experience a sudden elongation of the fascia band, which stretches and pulls on the heel. As you walk, the heel pain may lessen or even disappear, but that may be just a false sense of relief. The pain often returns after prolonged rest or extensive walking. Stretching is one of the most effective ways to reduce pain and improve mobility in your foot. It helps loosen tight muscles and fascia, easing stress on your heel. These stretches help relieve morning stiffness and improve overall flexibility. If that doesn’t help to reduce the pain of your plantar fasciitis, HijamaEnergetics can help. We find microcurrent therapy through the use of PEMF and scalar energy penetrates the stiff muscle tissue and relaxes it, thereby reducing the pain. At HijamaEnergetics, we only use natural healing modalities such as Hijama, herbs, nutritionals, bodywork, emotional healing, microcurrent therapy and bioenergetic remedies.
